Venomous families have a net diversification rate approximately double that of non-venomous families for both fishes and insects. Diversification rates and standard errors are based on estimated parameters from a model accounting for clade age which found that the differences shown here are statistically significant despite the relatively wide confidence intervals (Table 2)
